Bálint Hamvas

Bálint Hamvas is a Hungarian bass guitarist. He is best known as the bass guitarist of the Hungarian indie rock band Dawnstar.

Musical influences

Hamvas became interested in rock music at the age of 14 while he was attending secondary school. His first favorite bands included Van Halen, and AC/DC. However, later he became interested in dark and Gothic rock along with his classmate and future band mate Attila Wind. During his secondary school studies, Hamvas was listening mainly to Gothic bands such as Anathema, Tiamat, My Dying Bride, Type O Negative and The Gathering. 

Electric bass guitars

Hamvas's first electric bass guitar was the Ibanez TRB80. He received it from his parents as a gift as any other child aged 18 or 19. Hamvas learnt playing the guitar from a Hungarian bass guitarist, Barna Kovács (Mex) for a year.

Hamvas purchased his second second-hand Ibanez guitar, an Ibanez GXBA-150 around 2006.

Effect pedals
1. Zoom 506II (2002-present)
Hamvas has used a Zoom multi effect unit since 2002. However, he rarely uses it during concerts and rehearsals.

Amplifiers
1. Laney HC25B (1998- around 2006)
2. Behringer (2006-present)
Hamvas purchased his first amplifier, a Laney HC25B, in around 1999. During the band's first couple of concerts he used it. However, later he considered it too small for smaller gigs, therefore he purchased an amp with a higher wattage.
